1 Birthday, 1 Funeral, 1 wedding... So Far

So I'm six days into 2016 and I'm wondering how many times I've said 'Happy New Year' to the same people I said it to at the end of 2015. I swear I wouldn't mind sleeping through this month, as I planned final year in Philadelphia I'm trying to attend as many functions as I can't squirm my way out of. Plus, since I'm in my third and final year of working days, I can't use work to get out of it.

So... on January first the families paid homage to my brother's father-in-law and long-time friend of the family, Harry McGilberry who celebrated his 87th. He told me once he never expected to see 50. Somewhere there's a picture of Harry, but as usual, little Justin... my great nephew (brother's grandson)... stole the show.

On another note, one of my best friends' mother transcended on the first as well. She'd been battling for life for about two years and decided to cross over on New Years. I was hoping she wouldn't leave on Christmas, because I wouldn't want my buddy - who's not much on holidays anyway - to have that memory.  This is why I state that she decided to cross over, because i truly believe it was her decision. She had a good run... a very good run... maybe 95 years? And from the times we shared our exploits - many of hers from the Senior Center, she lived a fun life as well.

Adios Mary... I've no doubt your spirit will return.

The Fam @ The wedding. The Groom not make this shot.
On January 3rd the family took a road trip to the Poconos (Stroudsburg) for my second cousin, Adrian's wedding. It was fun, as weddings go. It's the side of the family we don't get to see so much... come to think of it, we don't see much of either side of the family much anymore... and have probably seen my Dad's side more than my Mom's.

There are a few more events coming this month that I'm pretty sure I'll be attending and wanting to remember, so I'll be posting them here.

If you happen upon this blog and want to see some of the videos I post as somewhat of a companion to this, visit my facebook page... KC Bajai.

Cheers.
