2016 - Transitional Year Continues

This evening I let Anthony know, via email that I'd be "bowing out" of Group Fitness at Temple this semester. It was to be my last anyway and things were just getting too complicated. I figure I can use the time... the hours I'd spend getting there, being there are getting back, to get myself ready to leave town.

I mentioned in earlier pieces that I was wondering if I'd go back in September and as usual the "signs" helped in my decision. First the requirement... last minute, that ICs would need liability insurance... which would be good for me to have, and I may even purchase if it looks like I'll be doing this any time soon, or ever again - was the first sign; and then the timing of the Aqua sessions at the pool - just too much seemingly wasted time for me. I don't think anyone will come as late as it was being scheduled. Politically there seems to be some question over which department has priority in booking the pool.

I could see this - well not this exactly - coming... but when Steve Young (Director of Campus Recreation, hope I have the title correct) passed, I knew there would be changes. I'm just a small cog in the campus rec system and the gears will go on grinding without me. I think and feel that there will be years.. or maybe just months, of internal positioning for whatever reasons, to whatever ends... and I don't need to be a part of that.

Of course, I could just be using this as a reason not to go back just because I've gotten bored with it? It's been almost 9 years and i don't really do things much longer than this. Two magazines were about 9 years each, deejaying.. about the same.. maybe 10 - 11 years, military was only 7 total... so my internal clock was probably telling me it was time to step down.

It remains to be seen what will happen next. I don't imagine any controversy. They can pay a student to do what I do and I hope they let Arnell take over the time slot. Hope she did a good job over the summer.

Okay, so there's my rant for the day. I think it's the end of this TUGX chapter... and I really enjoyed it, too.
