Chair Yoga at the YMCA

I always think it's great to be able to have new experience "at my age." Today I taught, or led if you prefer, my first Silver Sneakers Chair Yoga Class at the YMCA... I was asked to sub for my adopted "Auntie Fran" and to be honest I was a bit nervous as to how smoothly the session would go.

Qualifications-wise, I'm Yoga-I certified, Yoga-II educated (I took the class, but not the test) and Older Adult Trainer certified.. and CPR/AED... I told them this during the intro, and then warned them not to pass out or fall off of their chairs.

For two weeks.. at least, I practiced chair yoga every morning as my wake up workout. I had 45 minutes to fill during this class.. I'd been practicing for 30... so I had to make some stuff up... and still I forgot a few moves I wanted to add.

In the end, I got good marks... good comments. Best of all they enjoyed it... of course they may well be cursing me tomorrow, because if their bodies aren't used to what we did... they will be feeling it.

I realize, I can teach/lead such a class as this and I'm glad I got the opportunity, because I may "offer" something like this somewhere in Florida and/or where ever I land.

I'm doing one more class in October... so I'd better brush up a bit more.

  1. To say I'll miss you is fact, but happy you're doing what you want. Do you.
