I've created quite a number of titles for myself, Vagabond Philosopher, Hippie-Guru, Sexiest Old Man Alive (SOMA) to name a few. Essentially I am a free-range scholar, student of life, critical thinker and observer. A product (graduate) of the Philadelphia Public School system, who spent a year in College studying computer science when I should have been studying anything else. College was where I got my first opportunity to broadcast on the college radio station.
At the height of the American Hostage Crisis in Iran, I enlisted in the US Navy, served for five years active duty and was honorably discharged.
Studied photography for two years, earned a degree and started working as a school portrait photographer until I was hired by the Philadelphia Police department where I spent the next twenty-nine years as a Police Photographer and finally a supervisor.
Between shifts I started two independent magazines, played records in night clubs, hosted a weekly broadcast on a community radio station as well as on Pennsylvania's first internet webcast network, and wrote a column for weekly newspaper. I produced and participated in music and fashion events, emcee'd a couple hip-hop concerts and promoted several night club/bar promotional events.
Then I got into the fitness industry. Currently certified in 8 disciplines, including personal training and water training. I've coached group fitness sessions and classes for over 9 years at various facilities working with participants from 8 to 80 (literally).
Somewhere along the way I earned a certification for teaching English as a second language.
As the technology flourished, journalism expanding into blogism and photography expanded into videography, producing short exercise videos for kicks... basically.
So what's next? Working my way around the world. Working in out-of-the the way places such as family farms, Habitat for Humanity, some volunteer (for room board) opportunities. The combination of my skills experience(s), and imagination make me a valuable asset. I want to focus on sustainable living, health and fitness and education (as opposed to indoctrination).
